How to Create a Multi Currency Catalog in ServiceNow

Laurence Tindall from GlideFast Consulting presents a ServiceNow tutorial on creating a catalog item with multiple currencies. He explains the benefits of using multiple currencies, particularly for organizations operating in different countries offering products in different currencies. He notes that the currency displayed for a user is determined by their country code in ServiceNow.

To demonstrate, Laurence updates an existing catalog item in ServiceNow, the Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch, to include prices in both US dollars and British pounds. He navigates to the "Maintain Items" module under the Service Catalog application and searches for the MacBook Pro catalog item. On the item form, he clicks the edit button next to the price field.

In the price form, Laurence sets the type to "Multiple - Entered Manually in Each Currency" to enable adding fixed currency amounts. He adds a new price in British pounds (GBP) by entering 900 in the amount field and selecting the currency and price type. After submitting the form, he returns to the price form and clicks the update button to go back to the catalog item form.

Laurence then navigates to the portal to check the catalog item. The price is displayed in US dollars due to his country code being set to the United States. He creates a test user account called Bob Smith with a country code of the United Kingdom. When impersonating Bob Smith and accessing the portal, the same catalog item is displayed with the price in pounds (GBP).

Laurence concludes by emphasizing that setting up the ServiceNow catalog to use multiple currencies is a simple task that can provide significant value, especially for organizations operating in multiple countries.
